Why focus on embolotherapy?

Embolotherapy has become a mainstay of interventional radiology practice. Playing a more vital role than ever before, embolization treatments maximize minimally-invasive techniques in combination with various embolic agents and angiographic catheters to achieve precise and significant results.

The field covers a wide range of treatment possibilities, from widely recognized therapies such as trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE), uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), and venous embolization, to some of the less commonly known applications such as techniques to treat haemorrhoids and arthritis, and continues to advance in order to become more precise, more evidence-based and even more impactful in the years to come.

Check out the CIRSE Library to find out more about both fundamental and cutting-edge embolization treatments.

To access resources to inform patients about the various therapeutic options, including shareable leaflets in multiples languages, please refer to the patient information section of the CIRSE website.

To find out more about current standards of practice, please refer to CIRSE’s SOP documents on hepatic transarterial embolization and prostatic artery embolization.
